Overview

Murena Passwords lets you store and synchronize passwords between Murena Workspace and compatible clients such as the Passwords app on /e/OS.

Tip: The /e/OS app will be available starting with /e/OS v4.1 (July 2026).

What Murena Passwords protects

  • Your saved credentials are stored in a dedicated password vault.
  • The vault is client-side encrypted.
  • By default, you unlock the vault with your Murena Workspace password.
  • From the web version of Passwords, you can instead turn on Use a different password than my account password to enable end-to-end encryption (Settings → Encryption) to protect the vault with a password of its own, decoupled from your Murena Workspace password. That password cannot be recovered if you lose it, and you can switch back to your account password at any time from the same settings.
Tip: If you previously enabled End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) in the Passwords app settings, you are already using this separate password to unlock your vault.

How to access your passwords

  1. Open Murena Passwords.
  2. Enter your Murena Workspace password — or your separate encryption password, if you set one up — to unlock your vault.
  3. Access your saved passwords.

Changing your Murena Workspace password

If you change your Murena Workspace password, the password vault is re-encrypted with the new password during the process — unless you set up a separate encryption password, in which case the vault is not affected.

Resetting your Murena Workspace password

Caution: Resetting your Murena Workspace password resets the password vault and permanently deletes all passwords stored in it — unless you had set up a separate encryption password.

If you reset your Murena Workspace password through a forgot-password flow, the password vault must be reset as well: this means you will lose all passwords currently stored in it. This does not apply if you had set up a separate encryption password beforehand — your vault stays intact and is unaffected by the reset.

Which password do I need to unlock the vault?

Your Murena Workspace password by default.

If you had set up a separate encryption password (Settings → Encryption → Use a different password than my account password to enable end-to-end encryption in the web version of Passwords), use that password instead.

What should I do if the password is refused?

Make sure you are entering the correct password for your setup:

  • your Murena Workspace password, by default
  • your separate encryption password, if you had set one up

Can I define a different password for the password vault?

Yes. In the web version of Passwords, go to Settings → Encryption and turn on Use a different password than my account password to enable end-to-end encryption. Keep that password safe: it cannot be recovered if you lose it. You can switch back to your Murena Workspace password at any time from the same settings.
